Itinerary – Taitung & Green Island Trip (3 Days)

Trip Overview:

Day 1: 臺北(Taipei) – >臺東(Taitung)
Day 2: Morning 臺東(Taitung) -> 綠島(Green Island)
Day 3: Afternoon 綠島(Green Island) -> 臺東(Taitung)
Evening 臺東(Taitung) -> 臺北(Taipei) [Our Train Arrived The Next Morning]

Why Should I Go?

Taitung – To be honest we didn’t explore at all in Taitung because we arrived to late.  But I have heard the hiking and nature-exploring to be fantastic in Taitung!

Green Island – Nature, Waterfalls, Amazing Landscapes, Taiwan’s Political History (Old Political Prison on the Island), Fried Flying Fish, Amazing Views!  If you are looking for fine sand beached, Green Island is the wrong place.  For that I’d recommend Penghu from what I’ve heard.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Hitchhike, its definitely possible!  Getting out of Taipei is the hardest, but once you are out, its a blast and quite easy.  Also know Chinese haha.
  • If you have a license you can rent scooters in Taitung (gas powered) but apparently someone fell off a cliff and they didn’t have a license so no one rents to non-licensed foreigners anymore.
  • Click Here it is the link to the hostel place we rented from.  I believe the lady who works there can speak a little English, but I spoke to her only in Chinese to set it all up.
