Tainan TipsTricks:
In Tainan we found that the bus system got us to all the places we wanted to go to if need be. We took a taxi only to the night market and to Anping Fort. The rest we walked to from our hotel. If you do take bus, read all the signs at the stop. We waited for bus that was cancelled for that week by accident. (The signs are usually in Chinese, be aware.) If you are a student, look into Student Discounted High Speed Rail trains. It was cheaper with discount to take the 2 hour ride to Tainan from Taipei than to take 4 hour regular train ride. [You can get up to 50% off HSR!!]
Things We SawDid:

Kaohsiung TipsTricks:
It appears that Kaohsiung has a better bus system than Tainan, but their MRT from what I have read is not up to par with Taipei. However I imagine it would have worked for some of our stops. Though busing would have been required without scooters. We rode the MRT only once and it was only to pick up our scooters. With scooters we were able to get out of Sinsing District, that district is only where our hotel was.
Things We SawDid:
- Beaches, Ocean, Sightseeing!
- The Sihjhongsi Hot Springs
- The Hengchun Geothermal Natural Fires
- Cat Mountain
- Southern Tip of Taiwan
- Go-Karting
Things We Ate:
- Sashimi
- Seafood Dishes
- More Seafood…
- Nightmarket Food
Kenting TipsTricks:
We rode scooters from Kaohsiung to Kenting because we did not believe it would be as easy for foreigners to get scooters there. We have read it is difficult, and that most foreigners must rent electric scooters there. We saw people riding these however, I feel if I broke my legs I might be still able to walk faster than them. (Just kidding). But they were very slow compared to our gas powered “racers” hehe. They are also from what we read far more expensive to use. In Kenting everything is spaced out. With all the places far away you will need transportation, and the busing system is not that advanced out there. I’d bet it at least stops at the major attractions though. Eat seafood when you go. It’ll be the best you’ve eaten. Finally, enjoy the beaches. When we went there was no one, but that is because it was winter too haha.
