Yehliu (野柳)
We left the Taipei West Bus Station around 10:30 and arrived in Yehliu at around 12:30. The Geopark is a bit of a walk from the stop but following the hordes of people should get you to the right place. There are plenty of seafood restaurants around this area. You will also walk by both a 7-Eleven and FamilyMart. After eating lunch at an okay family style restaurant we explored the park. There is plenty of area to take photos in and despite it being a holiday the crowds here were not too bad. I believe normally it is NT$80 to enter but an NTU ID will get you in free. I have got to say this is one of the most awesome places I have been too and it has been long waited. The weather was perfect!
The nice sea breeze was perfect for the temperature we were at but I imagine it could get quite cold here.
Unfortunately, time constraints didn’t allow us to take pictures with the Queen’s Head but I plan on going back again and doing a bit more exploring.
After this stop we decided to take a bus to Jinshan Old Street (金山老街).
Jinshan (金山)
From Yehliu to Jinshan it should take 40-60 minutes by bus. We exited near Jinshan Station and its a 5 minute walk from there. We picked up snacks and drinks walking through the streets but this was a minor stop as our group wanted to go to Keelung for dinner. After spending maybe around an hour in Jinshan we hopped on a city bus towards Keelung.
Keelung (基隆市)
According to Nokia Maps it takes about an hour and 40 minutes to travel it, which seemed about right considering traffic was horrible.
Since it was a holiday Keelung Night Market was absolutely packed! I ended up eating at a place that was like Teppanyaki. The food was alright sadly I don’t have pictures for you. But the real treat was strawberry snow, one of my favorites!
After all the eating we hopped on a train back to Taipei Main for a cheap NT$41 we were back by 22:30! It was a cool trip and with more time there is definitely so much to explore!
