After waking up we packed all of our stuff and then went to breakfast. Luckily breakfast was included in the package we bought. We have up to NT$50 to spend the rest we cover ourselves. After we ate we were off to another part of the island for more amazing views. We found a place that had an observation deck where you could look out to the ocean, it was beautiful!
After that we asked our host if we could get some water and he said that there weren’t any places around but he had an idea. So we went off driving on our electric bicycles. Unfortunately, one of the bikes broke down and our friend had to ride on the back of the hosts scooter. We rode to a part of the island and walked around on the rocks. You could find crabs walking about and it was just a neat place. Then we were off to find water. We walked for what seemed like ages through just sand and then trees. Our host pointed on the side of a mountain with a small cave and said, “There is water in there.” I will tell you right now, you have not lived until you have had a drink of water from a fresh-water waterfall. It was the most amazing feeling in the world. Partly because we were so thirsty, but getting into the pool of water after climbing the side of a mountain was simply exhilarating!
After refreshing in the waterfall we went back to our hostel changed clothes and went to lunch at a 熱炒 place. We were only slightly impressed by the food. Our time for departure was slowly approaching so we had to return our electric bicycles. However, our host took us around in their van! We went to our last destination, which of course was a beach but since we would be leaving soon we stayed out of the water.
After we went to our last stop we headed to the harbor, said goodbye to our hosts and boarded the ferry to take us back. After getting back to 臺東 we had to wait about 4-5 hours till our train left. We hung around our old hostel in 臺東 because one of the people in our group left something there. Then we went to find dinner. We found a place along the main street, and for our group of 10, we each paid about NT$200 and we had so much food we couldn’t even handle it. After eating, we tried to hitchhike to the train station. Believe it or not, we got picked up by a truck. All 9 of us got into the back of this pickup truck and they drove us to the train station. It was awesome!!!!
