Washington DC Day 3
So it was Sunday and we decided to go to Eastern Market. It was basically an American version of the night markets of Taiwan. It was very cool too! They had vendors selling art and crafts, clothes, all kinds of collector items from maps to postage stamps. There was also many food stalls and in one of the buildings their was a place to buy fish, flowers, and other produce and even a few food places. We went to this place called Market Lunch (I believe) and they are super crazy. By this I mean, first the line is super long, but moves quick, and if you get to the front and don’t know what you want, they may kick you out of line and you’ll have to go to the back. Also, you cannot sit at their tables unless you have food cause they want people to get in and out. However, despite their craziness, their food was also crazy good. Take for example, a crab cake, of course who doesn’t like crab cakes, then make it eggs benedict and holy OMG we are taking amazing in your mouth flavor. It doesn’t end there either, they have these buckwheat blueberry pancakes moist and perfect, then you top it wish FRESH REAL maple syrup. However, use it sparingly they don’t give you much. Then to top it off, chili cheese grits, no not beans and chili but like green chili cheese grits are freaking amazing, as well as the side of hash browns which were like home fries.
Now, the food venture at Eastern Market didn’t end their while our friend was waiting in line, I took it upon myself to go over to this vendor selling crepes. I got a berry brie crepe, which was filled with fresh cut blueberries and strawberries and melted brie cheese. Now, since at the time I think strawberries were still out of season it wasn’t all that amazing. But I bet with sweeter strawberries it was would awesome! I also had the opportunity to try wasabi pickles by the local pickle dude, and freshly made jam. Again AWESOME! After all the gluttony, I went shopping for some cool DC items to bring back. There guy selling maps was awesome but I stayed away since I love maps and I would hate to spend all my money on them. Instead I bought some local art representing DC and a shot glass.
After we drove over to Capital Tea, we smelled almost their entire wall of tea. It was great, they have so many options but we went of course with the Presidential blend and had a pot of tea. However, time was of the essence and we were running out of it. So we finished out tea quickly, and headed over to go see the Lincoln Memorial. This place was so awesome and you’ll never understand how gigantic it is without being there in person. It was a great tribute to Lincoln and it was such a great feeling to finally be in their seeing it with my own eyes. I also took a look at some of the other memorials nearby such as the Vietnam War memorial. We then went back home and changed real quick, grabbed a taxi and headed over to The W for drinks. I had an Apple Crisp and let me warn you, their drinks are so freaking strong haha. But it was good, and the view was nice from up top of The Washington Hotel. Even cooler was the fact you can see the White House from their, it was literally like a block or two away and you are close enough to see the snipers up top of the white house with the naked eye.
After, we headed over to Old Ebbit’s Gril for dinner and of course more drinks. To drink I had some kind of martini and we started with some raw oysters. They were super tasty and something I would order from their again, they were very fresh tasting. For my entree I ordered the Spicy Shrimp Linguini which was super good. The side bread they have there as well is amazing I must say, its so soft! Thereafter, we headed over to the Kenndy Center to go see Sheer Madness. Now I have never seen a real play before so I was super excited, especially since I had no idea what to except. This play was AMAZING! It was hilarious, had a lot of improv, and a great story line. It included the audience in the play and really kept me involved and I am super glad that was my first play! I highly recommend it!
