Washington DC Day 4
Ahh the second to last day in DC but my first day traveling alone. I won’t lie, by this point I am pooped. I have been walking around day and night across all of DC and its been amazing yet tiring. I didn’t leave the house till around almost 10am haha. But at least I had a bit of a plan! I called my senators office and asked to get gallery viewing tickets for the House of Reps. and the Senate. They said sure just come to the office. So I had gone back to the area where the capital is, and walked around to find the my senators office and got the tickets. I then walked way over to the Capitol building and you have to check in all your stuff including cell phone. Unfortunately, congress wasn’t in session so the whole room was empty with the exception of the lucky tours who got to go on the floor where congress actually sits. Anyways,it was still cool nonetheless. I also had the opportunity to stop by the Supreme Court, of course I didn’t go inside (a ridiculous long line) but it was so huge and I took many pictures. I started getting hungry so I took to Yelp and found a place called Good Eatery. Boy let me say the name of the place was definitely true! I has a President Obama burger, but instead made it a chicken sandwich. It was so tasty along with the fries and Oreo milkshake. Okay yes, I know it was a bit much, but I am a shake person and people told me they were good here so I had too. Don’t judge. Anyways, after that I headed over to the Bureau of Printing and Engraving however they were out of tickets, I also went over to the Holocaust museum but they didn’t have any tickets until later in the day for the tour, and I had dinner plans so I decided to go to the White House instead which was unfortunately clear across town. I won’t lie, I feel like the White House is pretty darn small compared to what I thought would be. But I understand why it is the size it is. I also tried a street hot dog, not bad if you ask me. Definitely would have another. By this point I became super tired of walking around and headed home to await the dinner plans. Luckily we made reservations ahead of time, because when we arrived at Founding Farmers it was packed! Luckily we were seated in about 15 minutes and we immediately ordered the appetizer with Brie cheese, caramelized onion jam, and sliced apples on bread. Talk about a mixture made by angles, the jam was super super tasty and it was sad when we had finished it all so quickly. For the entree I ordered the Chicken and Waffles with Mac n Cheese. The chicken was fried in a homemade batter that mixed well with the not-too hard not-too soft waffles of perfection. Then of course the Mac n Cheese was exactly what you expected it should be tasty, warm, cheese goodness that fills you up just as it does your arteries. For desert we had the carrot cake, and since it has been years since I have had decent carrot cake this was the best choice by far. After dinner, I had the opportunity to view some of the national monuments at night which was a cool experience, especially since there was no tourists around to bother you haha. Unfortunately, I missed out on the Jefferson, but I’ll save that for the next trip.
